Hypocrites in the Senate and Congress

I'm a feminist but what happened to men standing up and protecting women. Lindsay Graham and these other spineless senators would rather protect a sexual predator. They did not investigate the matter properly completely, which is quite disturbing because that could have potentially cleared Kavanaugh. Our leaders have politicized a highly sensitive situation and have yet again embarrassed us in front of the world.  The American people will recognize the hypocrisy in this because we saw how the Republicans treated President Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland.Mitch McConnell and the others claimed that the American people need to have a voice in filling the vacancy, yet they don’t want to wait for us to vote in November. What a bunch of hypocrites!  I hope people remember this in November in the voting booth.

Diversity IS our Strength

As a mother of a biracial child, I was appalled to hear Tucker Carlson’s comment on Diversity . It saddened me to hear that he feels that Diversity is not our strength. According to the United States Bureau of Statistics, by 2020, fewer than one-half of children—49.8 percent—are projected to be non-Hispanic White. The changing racial makeup of the United States is most visible among children. By 2020, a majority of children are projected to be a race other than nonHispanic White (Table 4). That figure is expected to rise in coming decades, so about two in three children are projected to be a race other than non-Hispanic White by 2060. The fact is that the nation is browning and some people are simply beginning to panic because they will no longer be in the majority. But what are they afraid of? Afraid to compete in this environment? Afraid that they will no longer be able to take advantage of white privilege? Tucker Carlson is a crude talk show host who needs to read about the history of this country and why the founders welcomed all people (including his people). Everything that is great about this country has to do with our diversity! #DiversityIsOurStrength

Holding Celebrities Accountable?

Should we hold celebrities accountable for social activism and charity? In my opinion, yes. I love to hear about entertainers giving back to their community and providing support for young people. Examples include Steve Harvey's Camp geared towards teaching young men about manhood. Matthew McConaughey's 'Just Keep Livin' program focused on keeping young people motivated to flourish.  The just keep livin Foundation is dedicated to empowering high school students by providing them with the tools to lead active lives and make healthy choices for a better future.
